How much to fix a broken timing belt, bent pistons and valves for a 2001 Daewoo Leganza, anyone know?

97,000 miles. No other mechanical issues and has been seen by one mechanic already.|||As several have already said, this pretty much totals the car unless you want a used engine. Estimate around $2000-$3000.

The car is much the same as the Suzuki Forenza and there is no "rebuilt engine" available. A new "short block" and cylinder head runs over $4000 in parts.|||Sorry - not knocking you or your car, but I would scrap it. You are looking at repairs that will cost more than the car. With the economy the way it is, you can find some nice deals on used cars right now.

I suggest a Honda, Toyota, Nissan or VW.

NOT a Daewoo|||It could go up to several thousand if your head is damaged from the bent valves, also if your rods are bent.Get several quotes.|||This job will require a complete engine rebuild. I can't say for this car but a job of this magnitude will probably run over $2000 easy.

You might be better off looking for a used or rebuilt replacement engine to drop in.|||anywhere from a few hundred to $1500.|||Go to a salvage yard and get a good low mileage engine. It should be about $800-1000 completely installed.|||Replacement engine, and whatever hours to pull the old engine out, and replace. Would guess 2-3k dollars...|||$2000-Why don't you check out a used motor on car-part.com.
